Downtown Birmingham’s Elyton Hotel was chosen as the best hotel in Alabama, according to a popular travel website.

Last week, Far and Wide announced to its more than 2.5 million monthly readers the hotels that standout the most in every state.

Located on the Heaviest Corner on Earth at 20th Street S and 1st Avenue N, the 247-foot-tall Classical Revival skyscraper called the Empire Building was redeveloped into the luxurious Elyton Hotel in 2017.

Here is what Far and Wide said about Elyton.

“Inside a historic 1909 bank tower in Birmingham, The Elyton Hotel merges Southern heritage with polished interiors. Velvet seating fills the lobby, and the rooftop Moon Shine bar frames the skyline. Rooms feature custom headboards and curated local art. Its central location on 20th Street makes walking to the Civil Rights District and nearby museums easy.”
