After 25 years of showcasing creativity and community, Homewood’s Art Alley will officially close its doors on September 20, 2025.

Located in the historic Edgewood district of Homewood and known for its curated selection of Southeastern regional art with global influences, the gallery has built a reputation as a small space with big creative talent.

Since opening in May 2000, the gallery has served as a vibrant space for Birmingham’s art scene. Art Alley has consistently championed both local and regional artists and houses original collections of landscape, figurative and abstract works along with a selection of sculptures.

Art Alley received the Best of Birmingham Art Galleries Award in 2015 & 2018.

According to a post on Art Alley’s Facebook page by the owner Jim Smith, the connections made, the art championed and the community that has been built will live on despite the closing of Art Alley.

“Thank you for 25 years of allowing us to be your gallery. Here’s to the next chapter, and the enduring power of art to inspire, connect and elevate the human spirit.”

Jim Smith, owner of Art Alley
