Meet Darrius Peace, a small business owner in Birmingham

Darrius Peace, founder of Hayah Beauty, is no stranger to entrepreneurship or community empowerment. As a longtime Birmingham resident, he’s deeply invested in the city’s growth—and sees his work as part of something much bigger than business.
“One of my favorite things about being a small business owner in Birmingham is knowing that I am a part of the growth and magic of the city.”
Darrius Peace, founder, Hayah Beauty
With Hayah Beauty, Darrius set out to offer something unique: professional, specialized services for curly and textured hair. His salon quickly became a go-to destination, not just because of its expertise, but because it filled a critical gap in the market.
“I started Hayah Beauty because I wanted to exclusively offer the niche specialty of curly and textured hair services to the city. Knowing that we offer a one-of-a-kind service that fills a need for so many is what keeps me motivated.”

His passion goes beyond beauty. It’s about confidence, culture and helping people thrive in their everyday lives.
“I hope that my work with Hayah Beauty helps keep our customers looking and feeling their best so they can continue thriving in all of their endeavors.”

From beauty to business networking: The Magic City Expo
Together with his wife, Meagan Peace, Darrius expanded his entrepreneurial journey by launching the Magic City Expo, a one-day event designed to connect local businesses directly with the Birmingham community.
“We created the Magic City Expo to give small businesses a platform for face-to-face marketing with the citizens of Greater Birmingham. Our hope is that it creates an ongoing buzz and patronage that lasts well beyond the event itself.”

The event showcases a diverse range of businesses, including tech startups, wellness brands, food vendors and service providers.
