Get ready for an evening of colorful, mystical, unforgettable fun—all while supporting a Birmingham nonprofit.

The Lovelady Center, a women’s post-incarceration recovery center, is hosting a private showing of a new film, “SKETCH,” as a fundraiser on Thursday, Aug. 7 at AMC Patton Creek.

“SKETCH” is appropriate for anyone ages 8 and up, making it the perfect opportunity for a family outing.

In the film, a girl’s sketchbook drawings come to life. What follows is an “unpredictable, chaotic and dangerously real” adventure for her family.

As the town unravels, she and her brother must track down the creatures before they leave permanent damage. Their father, racing to find them through the fallout, must navigate a town in crisis to reunite his family and stop the disaster they never meant to unleash.

SKETCH synopsis, Angel Studios

Lead actor Tony Hale is a Samford alum who moved back to Birmingham with his family. Ever since moving back, he has been involved at The Lovelady Center. He was the emcee at the center’s largest fundraiser, Legacy of Love, earlier this year, and he reads to the children who live at the center with their mothers.

Fun fact: Actress D’Arcy Carden co-stars in “SKETCH”—you may recognize her as Janet from “The Good Place.”

After the screening, Hale and director Seth Worley will have a Q&A session with the audience in attendance.

This event isn’t just a film premiere of an awesome movie—it’s a night of healing others with your attendance.
