Get ready to party! Trussville Dog Daze—one of the city’s favorite end-of-summer events—is back for its 44th year on Saturday, August 9, and it’s bringing more fun and festivities than ever before.

Read on for details, including local vendors, live music and an all-new location. The best part? Admission is free!

Why you’ll love Trussville Dog Daze

Dog Daze offers fun for all. (Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce)

Put on by the Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Trussville, and presented by Trussville Gas and Water, this beloved event is a yearly favorite for good reason. It’s all about community—laid-back, family- and pet-friendly and the perfect excuse to hang with your neighbors and let the kids run wild (within reason, of course!).

Plus, with the event taking place the last weekend before the first full week of the new school year, it’s a nice way to get the kids excited about hitting the books and seeing old friends.

Here are some more reasons you’ll want to put this event on your must-attend list:

1. Dog Daze boasts a new location + live entertainment all day

One of the most exciting parts of Dog Daze is its live entertainment. That’s why this year’s event will take place at a new location, allowing all the action to be held in one convenient spot: the historic East Mall, in front of Cahaba Elementary School.

During the event, the steps of Cahaba Elementary will transform into a mini amphitheater, setting the stage for live local entertainment throughout the day.

Here’s who will be performing and when:

  • All Day DJ: Elvis Rob Productions
  • 10AM: Highway 11-The Classic Sett Jazz Trio
  • 11AM: ACTA Theater-The Cast of Willy Wonka
  • 11:30AM: Birmingham Martial Arts Demonstration
  • 12PM: Hewitt-Trussville High School Cheerleaders
  • 12:15PM: Hewitt-Trussville High School Highsteppers
  • 12:30PM: Hewitt-Trussville Middle School Dance Team
  • 12:45PM Hewitt-Trussville Middle School Cheerleaders
  • 1PM: Random Mountain Ramblers
  • 2:30PM: Pup Strut Doggy Competition
  • 3:30PM-5PM: Slagheap

Tip: If you need a place to cool off, check out the Mascot Meet and Greet inside the Cahaba Elementary gym or visit the Historical Museum inside Heritage Hall.

Another newbie this year: a gated kids’ area. This safe space is designed for kiddos to run, play and have a blast, while parents and caregivers enjoy the sights and sounds of Dog Daze.

In this designated zone, there will be:

  • Dunking booth
  • Face painting
  • Foam dance party
  • Inflatable games
  • Knockerballs
  • Touch that Truck

There will also be a Fun Source Kid Zone with rides + inflatables. Get an unlimited armband for $25 (cash only!). Proceeds benefit the Trussville Area of Chamber’s Scholarship Fund.

2. The Pup Strut is a must-see + enter your dog to win prizes!

The real stars of Dog Daze are the adorable local pups that dress up, parade and pose during the Pup Strut. During the show, you’ll see everything from tiny Chihuahuas in tutus to big Labs who love to smile.

Think your dog has what it takes to win best in show? Stop by the Pet Supplies Plus and Fencing Unlimited tents by 2PM to sign up.

Friendly reminder: Be a responsible pet parent—don’t forget your dog’s leash + disposable doggie bags.

3. You can shop + support 100+ local vendors

Plus—food! When you need a snack break, you’ll find plenty of eats, like:

  • El Compa Taco
  • Papa B’s Bama Boiled Peanuts
  • Rodney Scott’s BBQ
  • Rotan Lemonade
  • Snowie of Alabama
  • And more!
