UFL responds after multiple reports of relocating Birmingham Stallions
Reading time: 2 minutes

This is a developing story and it will be updated as more information becomes available.
Social media was buzzing Tuesday night after online reports said the Birmingham Stallions may have played their final game at Protective Stadium.
According to multiple reports, the United Football League (UFL) will be relocating four markets including Birmingham for the 2026 season.
However, the league released a statement after the reports came out Tuesday night.
“The League office is in the planning stages for next season and beyond. At this point, we have nothing to report on any unauthorized speculation.”

The reports claim the league is focused on relocating the four remaining teams that played the 2022 season in Birmingham including:
- Birmingham Stallions
- Houston Roughnecks
- Memphis Showboats
- Michigan Panthers
Mark Perry at the UFL News Hub reports the four new teams will include Ohio, Kentucky, Idaho and Florida.
Birmingham Stallions

The Stallions won three league titles since the return of spring pro football—two in the USFL and one after the merger created the UFL. Last season, Birmingham fell short of the championship for the first time.
Over the last four seasons, the Stallions had:
- 33-9 record
- 8 players make NFL rosters
- 2 MVPs
Skip Holtz was the coach for all four years in Birmingham. Some of the notable players included:
- Alex McGough
- Adrian Martinez
- Brandon Aubrey
- Harrison Mevis
- CJ Marable
- J’Mar Smith
- Deon Cain
Just a day before the report came out, Holtz was on an interview with 3 Man Front on WJOX in Birmingham. But during the interview, Holtz said he was reassured his team would not be relocated.
Attendance concerns

While there have certainly been some good showings for many Stallions games over the years, the league as a whole saw a dip in attendance since its merger to create the UFL.
The league reported attendance down in every market except for Michigan while TV ratings were down across the board.
That started to raise questions about potential relocation but many people thought Birmingham would be a protected market.
