The historic building at 2024 Morris Ave—formerly home to bridal boutique Heidi Elnora Atelier—is entering a new era. The downtown property officially changed hands on July 8 with a $1.54 million purchase by Burrow and Bloom Bham LLC, according to the Birmingham Business Journal

Behind the sale is Heidi Baker, founder of bridal boutique Heidi Elnora Atelier, which closed its doors in August 2024 following her retirement. The building had long housed the shop, and Baker shared on social media that she sold it to “another aspiring female entrepreneur.”

In a goodbye message Baker posted in a reel on social, she stated:

“I saved my building…from being torn down and made into another parking deck. It took months of work…but with a lot of love she was restored to historic standards.”

The buyer, Burrow and Bloom Bham LLC, is tied to Sydney Foote of Shelby County, who previously co-founded ATL Consultants Group in Atlanta and held a marketing role with Tampa-based NewGen Marketing Co.

Morris Ave continues to grow

Built in 1891, the two-story, 8,168-square-foot space sits on a 4,125-square-foot lot on Morris Ave. It housed several local businesses in its 100+ years and had been abandoned for several decades before Baker purchased it in 2015. You can see some cool before and after photos of the building on Baker’s website.

Today, the building sits next to Still Johnson Interiors and is just steps away from The Kelly hotel.

The sale is part of a trend of commercial activity in the area.

At Mercantile on Morris, Pizza Grace recently changed ownership with a purchase by Big Spoon Creamery and 234 Boutique will open later this year. Also on Morris Ave, Wooden City, a new restaurant with a full bar, opened in February.

It’s clear Morris Ave is buzzing with new life and new faces shaping its future, and we’re here for it.
