Village Sportswear closes after 60+ years in Mountain Brook Village

Longtime Mountain Brook retailer Village Sportswear closed in early July.

According to a message on the family-owned business’s answering machine, the owners have retired.

Located at 2421 Montevallo Rd. Mountain Brook AL 35223 in the heart of Mountain Brook Village, the women’s clothing store was known for beautiful designer collections of dresses, skirts and suits.

A beloved for 60+ years, the Mountain Brook Chamber of Commerce summed up why a family-owned business like Village Sportswear matters.

“Village Sportswear has been the backbone of Mountain Brook Village for so many years. They were more than just retail; they were part of the fabric of our community and the perfect example of small business success. 

Mountain Brook Village is such a special place, and it’s because of businesses like Village Sportswear. We’re grateful for all that the Adams family has given to Mountain Brook, and we look forward to seeing how this beloved corner continues to grow and serve the village in the years to come.”
