A new tattoo shop is coming soon to Five Points South! We spoke with the owners of Nowhere Tattoos to learn more about the neighborhood’s newest business.
New tattoo shop coming to Five Points South
Last July, longtime Five Points South bar Dave’s Pub reopened under the new ownership of Dan and Sherri Williams. Over the past year, the husband & wife duo noticed that the popular entertainment district was missing something.
“Five Points South has been without a tattoo shop since Stay Gold closed in 2022, but the area really deserves a good tattoo shop.”

When Your CBD Store closed its Five Points South store a little less than a year ago, Dan began eyeing the former CBD store as a potential space for a tattoo shop. After acquiring the space, Dan convinced his longtime friend and tattoo artist James O’Connell to make the move from Orlando, FL to Birmingham to head up operations at their new spot, Nowhere Tattoos.
About Nowhere Tattoos
Located at 1204 20th St S. between Mellow Mushroom and the new Dobber’s Five Points Pub, Nowhere Tattoos is in a prime, walkable area of Five Points South. Day-to-day operations will be led by James O’Connell, who has worked as a tattoo artist across the country for over 25 years.
“I’ve worked in a lot of tattoo shops in a lot of cities over the years, and what we’ve done is tried to fix the problems that have made my job as an artist more difficult.
We want things to be as good as possible for the artist, so that they in turn can offer their best services to the clientele that come in.”

As part of its effort to make their jobs easier, Nowhere Tattoos will provide its artists with the tools and equipment they need to be successful.
“While each individual tattoo artist can personalize their workspace, the basic fittings and trappings of each station are intended to be the same so there is consistency in how we do things.
We are providing our artists with the best needles, inks and other equipment so that they can focus on designing and putting the best tattoos possible on their customers.”

Nowhere Tattoos will officially open its doors to the public with a grand opening celebration on Friday, July 25. The grand opening will feature:
