Popular Cajun restaurant on 280 reopens July 16
Reading time: 2 minutes

After nearly three decades of serving up authentic Cajun fare off U.S. 280, Birmingham’s beloved Crazy Cajuns is reopening its doors on Wednesday, July 16—this time with a new owner at the front, but all the familiar faces still in place.
Crazy Cajuns is under new ownership
Just a month ago, Crazy Cajuns announced it would be closing, sending shockwaves through its loyal customer base. But on that very same morning, longtime friend and crawfish supplier “Crawdaddy Dave” made a phone call that changed everything. He stepped up in a big way—promising not just to keep the doors open, but to carry the legacy forward.
“When you walk through the doors, you’ll see the same smiling faces,” the announcement reads. “The entire front-of-house and kitchen staff have decided to come back with him.” That means customers can still expect the signature Crazy Cajuns hospitality and flavors they’ve grown to love—plus a few new surprises.
Welcome Crawdaddy Dave!

Crawdaddy Dave brings not only his deep ties to the restaurant but also extensive experience in the food world. He also owns the Crawfish Warehouse in Jasper, a local favorite in its own right.
With his passion and vision, fans of Crazy Cajuns can expect both consistency and exciting new additions. (And yes, boiled peanuts are back!)
Longtime owners Robert and Lulu Regard are full of gratitude and thankfulness for this journey.
“You know, I lost a card game about 30 years ago and that’s how this started,
Who would’ve thought it would’ve lasted this long? But it couldn’t have been done without the love and support of our community, of which we are very appreciative and grateful for.”
The Regards
While they may be stepping back, the Regards won’t be far. They’ll still be around, supporting the restaurant and catching up with the community that’s become like family.
Crazy Cajuns reopening is more than just a second act; it’s a celebration of community, tradition, and the people who make it all matter. So mark your calendars for Wednesday, July 16, and come hungry!
