Leaving behind their devices, running water, and electricity, a Birmingham family embraced the wild for an upcoming HBO Max show premiering Thursday, July 10.

Stacey and Joaquin Loper, along with their two children and Stacey’s mother, joined two other families for the two-month challenge living life like a 1880s homesteader. In the show, “Back to the Frontier,” participants have to raise livestock, construct shelters, and ration their supplies, all without the luxuries of the 21st century.

“Back to the Frontier” will roll out over eight weeks with a new episode each Thursday. The show will be available on HBO Max, and monthly subscriptions start at $9.99/month.

The show will also appear on the Magnolia Network on Thursdays at 7 p.m.

This series taps into something we’ve always believed–that stepping away from the noise of everyday life can bring you closer to what matters most. It is proof that no matter where you find yourself, the most important part of home is the people you share it with.

Chip and Joanna Gaines, executive producers

The three families traveled from across the country to wilderness surrounded by 10,000 acres of nature.

Stacey Loper has garnered a following of 4.7 million followers on TikTok @thatloperlady, where she makes content with her family.
