Local leaders unite for Coca-Cola Amphitheater launch

The much-anticipated grand opening of the Coca-Cola Amphitheater was held this morning.
The celebration was hosted by Birmingham Mountain Radioβs Scott Register with remarks by:
- Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin
- Jay Wilson, Live Nation
- Tad Snider, Executive Director & CEO, BJCC
- Jimmie Stephens, Jefferson County Commission President
- Wardine Alexander, President Pro Tem, Birmingham City Council
- State Sen. Jabo Waggoner
- Mike Suco, President & CEO, Coca-Cola Bottling Company UNITED
After the presentations, there was a performance by music students from Red Mountain Theatre, who sang songs from the Broadway hit βHamiltonβ and serenaded the crowd with the βIβd like to teach the world to sing songβ – Coca-Cola version.
The first official performance at the Coca-Cola Amphitheater takes place June 22, headlined by comedian Matt Rife.
More than 30 shows coming to Coca-Cola Amphitheater

Located north of the Uptown Entertainment District, the 9,300-capacity outdoor venue is a collaborative effort between the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex (BJCC), the City of Birmingham, Jefferson County, and Live Nation.
More than 30 shows are slated for its inaugural season, including:

- Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit (June 28)
- Big Time Rush (July 9)
- Alabama Shakes (July 26)
- Rod Stewart (August 2)
- Teddy Swims (August 15)
- James Taylor (September 10)
- Phish (Sep 13 and 14)
- Nelly with Ja Rule (September 18
