Freddy’s, a Highland Park staple located on the ground floor of the Highland Towers Apartments, has the perfect wine night waiting for you. Every Tuesday, the bar offers specials at $20, $30, and $40 a bottle. And don’t forget to check out their Homewood location now, too. It’s right next to Homewood Park and offers additional food pairings. Sounds like an ideal afternoon vibe to us.

Vino has a romantic ambiance, wonderful wines and fresh food options to create an ideal wine night for you and that special someone. Especially if that special someone is your pup—dogs are allowed on the outdoor patio!

Gianmarco’s Wine Bar in Edgewood

Gianmarco’s won our award for the “Most Splurge-Worthy” spot in Birmingham. Did you know the authentic Italian restaurant also has a dedicated wine bar around back? Call ahead to make your reservation.

Hop City Birmingham near Pepper Place

Hop City Craft Beer and Wines on a Monday afternoon (Hilary Meares / Bham Now)

Hop City is a hub for beer lovers, but their wine selection is equally extensive. Before you buy a bottle, sample a glass of select pours at their wine bar while you chat with the friendly bar staff or grab a delicious pizza from the food truck parked outside. To stay up to date with their latest goodies, follow them on Instagram.

Bar La Fête downtown

Bar La Fête is an amazing French bistro, serving a vast selection of wines—ranging from sparkling, white, red, rosé + orange. Stop by to get a little taste of France right at home. Weekday happy hours run from 4-6 and are a great way to grab a glass + fancy snack (fresh sourdough with Normandy butter is our pick).

Corbeau Wine Bar in Trussville + Homewood

Inspired by their love of wine, sisters Elizabeth and Mary Martin began Corbeau, a place equally perfect for beginners or experts. The spot is named after the French word for “crow,” a symbol of heritage. They offer draft wines, which means you can get a carefully-preserved pour of select bottles in 1oz, 2.5oz or 5oz amounts to find the perfect wine for you.

Honorable mentions: Galley and Garden in Highland Park

While Galley and Garden is not specifically a wine bar, we had to give them a shoutout. With over 500+ wines to choose from, they have one of the most extensive and awarded wine selections in Birmingham.

Honorable mentions: The Wine Loft

Currently, The Wine Loft is only open for special events, but we miss having a wine bar right by our office. If you’re lucky enough to score an invite there, you’ll enjoy eclectic tapas, a sophisticated ambiance and wine by the glass or bottle.
