Disco is “stayin’ alive” in Birmingham, thanks to a dedicated performance krewe of disco enthusiasts known as Magic City Disco. Since its formation in 2017, the coed dance group has recently hit a major milestone of 200 events.

To celebrate, they’re hosting a party this Friday, June 20 at The Margaret. Read on for details.

200 events across 5 states + beyond

For the last eight years, Magic City Disco has been shakin’ their groove thing at dozens of fun events throughout the Southeast, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana and New York.

The group even traveled across the pond to England to perform at the 2024 London New Year’s Day Parade. Most recently, the krewe performed in New York City, joining over 150 other dance groups on the Avenue of the Americas for the 19th Annual Dance Parade New York.

“We are thrilled to achieve the milestone of performing at over 200 events. We love to represent Birmingham’s vibrant spirit, and we do it with sequins, smiles, and soul as we share our love for disco at every performance.”

Karen Cole, founding member of Magic City Disco
