It’s a new week in The Magic City, and that means a new roundup of businesses popping up across town.

From a boutique mall coming to Highway 280 to a new mixed-use development downtown, here are four businesses that should be on your radar. Plus, one local spot we’re sadly saying goodbye to.

Now Open

1. Krispy Kreme | Hoover

Have you been missing your Krispy Kreme fix?

You’re in luckβ€”after several months, the iconic β€œHot N’ Ready” sign is now on at the popular donut shop’s Hoover location after a complete renovation. The location, which was completely gutted and redone, is now back in action.

2. Bygones + The Painted Lady | Downtown Birmingham

Located at the intersection of 22nd Street S and 2nd Avenue S, Battery II is a mixed-use development anchored by two new spots: The Painted Lady hotel and Bygones.

A boutique hotel managed by Lark Hotels, The Painted Lady promises, β€œa blend of elegant charm with a tribute to the city’s resilient past” and features 22 curated rooms and suites capable of accommodating a maximum of two guests.

Located next-door to The Painted Lady is Bygones, a classy cocktail bar backed by Michael Tobey and Phillip Crowe, two local bartenders who wanted to create their own cocktail bar experience.

In addition to Bygones and The Painted Lady, Battery II includes over 18,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space for future tenants.

Creole Connection near Legion Field is closing its doors this week according to an announcement by the owner. The local Birmingham spot will serve its last customers on Sunday, June 15.

In a video shared on the restaurant’s Instagram, owner Jason Perryman explained that the decision to close came after much reflection. Rising food and labor costs ultimately made it unsustainable to keep the business running.

Make sure to swing by before their last service on Sunday, June 15.
