Fitness court and track improvements coming to Irondale’s Beacon Park
Reading time: 2 minutes

The City of Irondale has secured two grants totaling $110,000 to upgrade Beacon Park, one of the community’s most popular green spaces.
The funding will enhance the walking track and install a new state-of-the-art Fitness Court® at Beacon Park
Two fitness-related grants

According to Mayor James D. Stewart, Jr., Irondale was selected as a 2025 recipient of the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama National Fitness Campaign Grant. The $50,000 grant will support the installation of a new Fitness Court®, with the goal to promote accessible and inclusive outdoor exercise for residents of all ages.
The Blue Cross Blue Shield grant compliments a $60,000 fitness-related grant Irondale secured earlier this year from Jefferson County to upgrade the walking track at Beacon Park. The new track will be wider and fully ADA accessible.
“We are committed to building a healthy community in the City of Irondale. Along with these two projects we’ve completed our parks master plan and we look forward to improving green spaces across the city.”
Mayor James D. Stewart, Jr.
Both projects are slated for completion in 2026.
