Other ways to fight HIV + support the LGBT+ community

AIDS Alabama offers various volunteer opportunities, from administrative tasks to event support. Whether you’re interested in one-time events like Dining Out for Life or ongoing roles in advocacy and education, your time and talents are valuable. To get started, complete their volunteer application online.

Advocate

Join AIDS Alabama’s advocacy efforts to promote policies that benefit the HIV/AIDS community. Participate in events like AL HIV Advocacy Day or get involved with the Positive Leadership Council, which offers peer-to-peer advocacy training.

Every action, big or small, contributes to a stronger, healthier community.

“Pride Month represents more than celebration—it’s a powerful opportunity to advance HIV prevention and support those affected by HIV. As we honor the LGBTQ+ community’s resilience and progress, we must also recognize that the fight against HIV remains urgent. This is the perfect time for individuals to get tested, learn about PrEP and other prevention methods, and show solidarity with those living with HIV.

When communities come together during Pride, we can break down stigma, expand access to care, and move closer to ending the HIV epidemic. Supporting HIV prevention isn’t just a health issue—it’s an act of love for our community.”

Gina Mallisham, Development Director, AIDS Alabama

Ready to celebrate? Whether you’re attending your first pride event or your fiftieth, it’s a time to show up, show out and protect our local LGBTQ+ community.
