Norwood Park’s upgrade: A new playground for kids
Reading time: 2 minutes

If you have visited Norwood Park lately, you probably noticed the new playground.
Located near the community pavilion, the new slides and play structures are geared for children aged 5 to 12.
According to Birmingham City Councilor JT Moore, the upgrade was made possible through American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds.
“My allocation of American Rescue Plan Act funds to upgrade playground equipment in District 4 is an example of my commitment to fostering safe, engaging, and inclusive spaces for children and families. By directing funding towards park and recreation improvements I believe I am investing in the physical and emotional well-being of the youth in our community.
These improvements not only address immediate needs but also lay the groundwork for long-term community development, ensuring that public spaces are accessible and enjoyable for all residents.”

Additional new playgrounds
In addition to the playground at Norwood Park, new solar lights have been installed in the area.
Other neighborhood playgrounds Moore’s allocation have funded include:
- East Lake Park playground
- Inglenook Park playground
- Pine Knoll Vista playground (future project)
