Little Professor is closing its Pepper Place location at the end of June.

The popular locally owned bookstore made the announcement in its monthly newsletter today.

Below is the note they wrote to their loyal customers.

As a new long-term tenant was secured for our current space, we were given the opportunity to relocate within Pepper Place and have chosen not to do so at this time. We are hopeful that this is an opportunity to refocus on our flagship store, create space for thoughtful improvements, and streamline operations for a season.

When we opened the doors of our Pepper Place location in 2022, our hope was to replicate the spirit of our Homewood model in a new neighborhood, and all of those hopes were realized — welcoming weekly regulars, seeing smiling ‘little’ faces on Saturday mornings, hosting events, and of course, connecting with fellow book lovers.

Being part of the Pepper Place family has been an incredible experience, and we’ve deeply valued the support, community, and collaboration that came with it. That’s what makes this a bittersweet transition, and closing the doors we worked so hard to open and sustain is not taken lightly.

We look forward to continuing our relationships with our beloved Pepper Place community through pop-up events and future partnerships. In the meantime, we hope that you will continue to visit us in Homewood for coffee, books, and the community you love.

Again, we sincerely thank you for an incredible few years and your ongoing support of the vision for Little Professor.

Gratefully,
Jonathan and Meredith Robinson

The good news — the Homewood store remains open. From the letter, it also looks like a new tenant will soon take Little Professor’s place.

Stay tuned for updates. In the meantime, make sure to drop by the Little Professor at Pepper Place in June and stay connected to this beloved bookstore.
