Red Mountain Theatre is bringing Disney’s “Frozen” to life on stage from May 30 to June 29, and it’s a heartwarming, snow-swirling spectacle you won’t want to miss.
Whether you’re a lifelong fan of the movie or discovering the kingdom of Arendelle for the first time, this stage adaptation has something for everyone. We sat down with the cast to hear how this production came to life.
Meet your Elsa and Anna!
Disney’s “Frozen” leads Sarah Fernandez (Elsa) and Mariel Ardila (Anna) share their excitement and love for these iconic roles.
Set in the snowy kingdom of Arendelle, Disney’s “Frozen” follows the story of two sisters—Anna and Elsa—who grow up isolated from one another after Elsa hides her magical ice powers.
When Elsa accidentally plunges their kingdom into eternal winter, Anna sets off on a courageous quest to bring her sister home, with the help of Kristoff, his trusty reindeer Sven and the lovable snowman Olaf. It’s a beautiful tale of family, courage and self-acceptance that’s captured hearts everywhere.

The bond of sisterhood in Disney’s “Frozen“

The story of Disney’s “Frozen” resonates deeply with its two stars, each bringing a unique personal connection to the theme of sisterhood.
“My younger sister Mary was born with a blonde streak of hair, so she looks just like Anna—when the movie came out, we kind of looked at each other like… wow. It’s us.”

For Mariel Ardila (Anna), playing a sister on stage allowed her to explore a bond she didn’t have growing up but found throughout her life.
“I didn’t grow up with siblings, so diving into Anna’s energy and her love for Elsa has been such a meaningful experience. It made me think a lot about the chosen family and sisterhood I’ve found in my life.”

Both performers reflected on how their younger selves would be overjoyed to see them take on such magical, empowering roles. They hope young girls in the audience will be inspired by the strong, loving bond at the heart of Disney’s “Frozen.”

Sarah, a New York native and NYU graduate, began her professional career playing Elphaba in the national tour of Wicked. She sees powerful parallels between her former green-skinned role and her current icy one:
“Both Elphaba and Elsa are women with incredible powers and deep emotional journeys. I love getting to bring that intensity and vulnerability to the stage again.”
