Songbird Salon opens new location in Avondale

In the former Arcadia Salon space on Avondale’s 41st Street South comes the new Songbird Salon.
We got an inside look at Songbird’s new space and heard from the owner about what makes this journey so special.
Introducing Songbird Salon
As soon as I walked into Songbird Salon, I was greeted with smiling faces by the entire staff.
Owner Karen Blackmon was especially eager to show me around and tell me about her new storefront.
Karen has been doing hair professionally for nearly 20 years, spending the majority of her career at Salon U in Homewood.
“I was at a salon suite before, and this was one of those things that I’ve had a vision for since 2014. And this was the year that the Lord just opened the door for. It happened really fast and we’re just getting started.”

Now, Karen has stepped into a new journey with Songbird Salon’s brand-new space in Avondale.
The salon announced this update in April 2025:
“Songbird Salon has found its new home, and we couldn’t be more grateful to Christie and the team at Arcadia for making this possible.
Our new space is designed with you in mind, creating the perfect sanctuary for all your hair and beauty needs. We can’t wait to welcome you in and make some magic happen!”

The jump to Avondale was a surprise, but one that Karen, the Songbird Salon staff and their clients have loved.
“It was a surprise to me to be over here. It’s an area that I’m not as familiar with, but it’s very sweet.
I feel like it’s kind of a hidden gem. I would be on the lookout for what’s coming to Avondale.”
