Designed to make Vestavia Hills a much more walkable community, the new pedestrian bridge will span Highway 31 and connect  Wald Park, Vestavia Hills Aquatic Complex and Vestavia Hills Elementary West to Library in the Forest and Boulder Canyon Trail.

Here are the specifics about the bridge:

  • The bridge will be 143 feet long (about half a football field)
  • Elevator/Stair towers
  • About 300 feet of sidewalk will be removed and reconstructed on the east side
  • About 280 feet of new sidewalk will be built on the west side

The bridge is still on track to open this Summer.
