Guthrie’s, the self proclaimed “original chicken finger restaurant”, opened its newest location today at 1437 Montgomery Hwy, Vestavia Hills, AL 35216. It is the brand’s 31st location in the state of Alabama

Established in Haleyville, Alabama back in 1978, the family-owned restaurant was one of the first in the United States to build a menu only around scratch-made chicken fingers.

“We’re thrilled to bring the world’s best-tasting chicken fingers and signature Guthrie’s sauce to anyone in the Vestavia Hills community. Anyone looking for a meal made with freshly sourced ingredients is in for a real treat.”

Joe Kelly Guthrie, CEO of Guthrie’s Franchising, Inc.

The Vestavia location will be open daily from 10:00AM to 10:00PM.

Waldo’s opens alongside Big Bad Breakfast

Only a quarter of a mile south of the new Guthrie’s, another chicken joint opened on May 12th — Waldo’s Chicken & Beer. This is the 2nd Birmingham-area location and 25th Waldo’s spread out over eight states.

Located at 1463 Montgomery Hwy, Vestavia Hills, AL 35216, Waldo’s was founded by Homewood native Mark Waldo.

The new Vestavia chicken joint is locally owned and operated by Casey Atherton, the proprietor of the Cahaba Heights restaurant.

Waldo’s Chicken & Beer is not fast-casual like Guthries. In addition to serving chicken tenders, they offer 12 different kinds of cocktails and of course a variety of beers.

They are also located next to the new Big Bad Breakfast, which also opens this week.

The new Waldo’s hours are: Monday-Friday 11AM-9PM | Saturday-Sunday 10:30AM-9PM
