Hoover, Alabama is the 15th Best Place to Live in the U.S., according to Livability.com

Last week, the popular online publication that has been showcasing America’s most vibrant cities for three decades, released the 2025 Top 100 Best Places to Live list report.

Livability’s categories – How Hoover ranked

Livability.com partnered with Applied Geographic Solutions (AGS) to analyze data from over 2,000 U.S. cities with populations between 75,000 and 500,000.

The group considered the following categories to come up with their LivScore:

  • Amenities
  • Economy
  • Education
  • Environment
  • Health
  • Housing/Cost of Living
  • Safety
  • Transportation

Hoover not only ranked 15th overall nationally, they were ranked 2nd Best Place to Live in the Southeast Region behind Roswell, Georgia.

“I am thrilled to see that, once again, Hoover has been named one of the Top 100 Best Places to Live in America by Livability.com. This is no surprise, but it doesn’t happen by accident. It’s the result of years of hard work by so many — from our dedicated city employees and first responders to our outstanding school system, and the countless community members and business owners who take pride in calling Hoover home. I’m proud to be part of a city that continues to grow, serve, and thrive together.”

Frank Brocato, Mayor, Hoover

List of current Hoover initiatives

Hoover continues to grow and reinvent itself. Below is a current list of initiative going on in the city:

  • Market study of the Riverchase Galleria
  • Implementation of suggestions from the Parks and Public Spaces Plan including the addition of trails, access to the Cahaba River and enhancements of programming.

In addition to Hoover, two other Alabama communities made the Top 100 Best list — Huntsville and Auburn.
