If you are traveling through Shelby County on I-65 northbound and southbound between 9:00 at night to 5:00 in the morning, plan for some delays.

According to a news release from the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT), crews are making guardrail repairs on I-65 in Shelby County beginning on the Chilton County line to the Jefferson County line.

They anticipate the repairs to be conducted Sunday through Thursday nights, between 9PM to 5AM. All lanes are expected to reopen to traffic by 5:00 in the morning.

Additional Shelby County I-65 roadwork

In addition to the guardrail work in Shelby County, ALDOT began last month adding lanes and fixing bridges on I-65 between Calera and Alabaster.

ALDOT is encouraging motorists to use extreme caution in these work zones, expect potential delays and consider using alternate routes.

Drivers are encouraged to visit ALGOtraffic.com or use the ALGO Traffic app for real-time traffic updates and alternate routes.
