Traveling to Mississippi or Memphis on I-22 any time soon? You may want to add a little extra time to your journey over the next few months because of a major resurfacing project occurring in Walker County near Jasper.

This week, the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) announced it is beginning resurfacing work on a portion of I-22 in Walker County from near Exit 51 to near Exit 57.

Weather permitting, the project is expected to last until Fall 2025. At least one lane will remain open in each direction throughout the project, according to an ALDOT news release.

Motorists should expect possible slow downs and delays. Make sure to visit ALDOT’s ALGOTraffic.com for the latest traffic updates.
