Archibald & Woodrow’s, the nationally renown BBQ joint out of Tuscaloosa County, is coming to Birmingham.

The 63-year old restaurant made the announcement on social media this weekend.

The establishment will be located downtown at the former Rib-It-Up BBQ spot at 830 1st Ave N, Birmingham, AL 35203.

Named the 14th best barbecue joint in the South by Southern Living in 2023, the new location will be Archibald & Woodrow’s BBQ first restaurant in The Magic City. The original restaurant was founded in Northport by George and Betty Archibald. Their grandson Woodrow Washington III opened the family’s Tuscaloosa BBQ joint in 2002.

Wide variety of menu options

In addition to offering BBQ ribs, pork & chicken sandwiches/plates, sides (baked beans, potato salad, fries) and desserts (banana pudding), Archibald & Woodrow’s menu also includes:

Hot wings
Catfish and whiting
Meat & three + veggie plates (served at the Tuscaloosa location)

Along with Southern Living, other fans of Archibald BBQ include USA Today, which named its ribs the 6th best in America and University of Alabama Athletic Director Greg Bryne, who famously used the BBQ joint in his announcement that the school had hired Head Coach Kalen DeBoer.
