Occupi

Occupi is an app developed by Emily Hart and Taylor Peake, co-founders of Birmingham-based software development company MotionMobs.

Launched in 2023, its goal is to simplify rent payments for both tenants and landlords, consolidating common payment platforms like Venmo, Cash App and Chime.

For landlords, Occupi makes it easy to list open units, screen potential renters and accept a variety of payments. For tenants, it makes applying for properties and making rent payments quick and easy.

NewMIGO

Founded by John Ding and Kyle Broussard in 2024, NewMIGO is an AI-driven startup is aiming to revolutionize 24/7 answering service.

Why is this a game-changer for business owners?

By automating tasks like answering and returning calls, businesses can improve efficiency while ensuring potential clients stay engaged—because the easier it is to reach your company, the less likely customers are to turn to competitors.

According to Broussard, NewMIGO is evolving beyond just an AI call agent. They’re developing a highly scalable, business-centric AI automation platform that empowers small businesses from any industry to scale, grow rapidly and compete with larger players in an AI-driven world.

Wunderfan

For the sports fanatic in your life: Wunderfan! Founded by Blake Patterson in 2024, Wunderfan is the ultimate loyalty app for passionate fans.

With Wunderfan, sports enthusiasts earn points simply for supporting their favorite teams, whether they’re attending games, watching from home or participating in weekly contests.

It’s a game-changer for both fans and venues. Fans can redeem points for exclusive merchandise and tickets, while venues benefit from increased attendance—helping to reverse post-COVID declines.

According to the Birmingham Business Journal, Patterson was able to raise $300,000 in funding within the first month of Wunderfan’s launch.
