Last September, we told you about Charlie Campbell, a young basketball player in Birmingham who went viral singing โ€œLose Controlโ€ by pop star Teddy Swims.

After reaching the attention of Good Morning America, The TODAY Show and more national news, Charlie and his family were invited on The Jennifer Hudson Showโ€”where a special surprise awaited them.

Teddy Swims surprises Birminghamโ€™s Charlie Campbell

โ€œThe Jennifer Hudson show contacted us to see if we would have Charlie come on her show.

We had a great experience. The producers and staff of the show were awesome to Charlie and our family. They really gave us a full welcome. There was a dressing room with Charlieโ€™s name on it, and they helped get him comfortable and ready to be on stage.โ€

After a quick interview with Jennifer Hudson about Charlieโ€™s basketball, singing and other interests, she surprised him with a special guest.

โ€œThey asked him to sing at the end of the segment, but then [Jennifer Hudson] stopped him and said, โ€˜Well, hang on, just a secondโ€™ and unveiled Teddy Swims.

They talked for a few minutes on camera, and they were brothers right then and there. Teddy was super nice and very generous to Charlie. He got to spend a few minutes backstage with Teddy and gave him a couple of gifts and some jerseys.โ€

Fun fact: Teddy Swims is coming to The Magic City! Catch him at the brand-new Coca-Cola Amphitheater this fall.

Charlieโ€™s viral video

Charlie was at basketball camp with 205 Hoops when he broke out into one of his favorite songs, โ€œLose Controlโ€ by Teddy Swims. He sang this tune during his first day at basketball camp and instantly turned into a viral sensation.

The best part? His teammates and coaches were cheering him on the whole time.

And now, thousands of people across the U.S. are cheering alongside them.

โ€œHeโ€™s a good singer and heโ€™s talented, but what people loved about that video was how supportive everybody wasโ€”all of the kids were cheering him on.

I kind of feel the same way when people see this video. Itโ€™s very nice to see the positive impact that heโ€™s had on people.โ€
