The Birmingham Barons are returning to historic Rickwood Field to host their in-state rival the Rocket City Trash Pandas.

The game is scheduled for June 4, 2025, at 12:30PM and will honor the Birmingham Black Barons and the Negro League.

The current Barons will wear specialty jerseys to pay tribute to their contributions to baseball.

“Rickwood Field has been such an important part of the cultural fabric of Birmingham for many years, and we are proud to continue the legacy of playing a vintage game there again in 2025.”

Jonathan Nelson, General Manager of the Barons

This past year, the national spotlight shone on Birmingham and Rickwood Field when Major League Baseball and Minor League Baseball held a “field of dreams-like” games saluting the Negro Leagues, Willie Mays and the Birmingham Black Barons.

Baseball’s return to Historic Rickwood Field, the oldest professional baseball field in America, was made possible after extensive enhancements led by the Friends of Rickwood Field and City of Birmingham.

Below are Bham Now’s stories about that momentous week in June.

The first opportunity to purchase tickets for the game will be the Barons’ Black Friday ticket package, which will go on sale November 29th. Individual tickets and hospitality spaces will go on sale at a later date.

Presently, there is no word from MLB whether they are returning to play a game again at Rickwood Field in 2025.
