New full-service travel center opens near Finley Blvd. and I-59

TA Express has unveiled a full-service travel center/truck stop at the former Pilot truck stop near Finley Boulevard and I-59.

Located at 900 Bankhead Highway, the 24/7 truck stop opened in early November.

In an interview with the manager onsite we learned the following about the new travel center:

  • Dunkin Donuts and Arby’s will be opening onsite
  • Hot bar called Mrs. J’s will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner platters  
  • 10 gas pumps for the traveling public 

The store expects to receive its license to sell alcohol within the month.

In addition to the public side of the TA Express, according to CDLife, a digital media company that provides a range of services for truck drivers, the truck stop part of the center includes:

  • 8 diesel fueling positions 
  • Private showers, laundry facilities and driver’s lounge 
  • Eight diesel fueling positions with Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) on all lanes
  • 85 truck parking spaces
  • Eight truck Reserve-It parking spaces

Second new travel center this fall

The new TA Express is the second travel center to open on the Finley Boulevard corridor in Birmingham. Speedway, one of the nation’s largest convenience store chains, began operating on Sept. 11 at 1617 Finley Boulevard at the I-65 off-ramp.
