Happy November, Birmingham!

With a new month comes a brand new roundup of shops and restaurants joining The Magic City. From two new businesses now open at The Edge to a local Thai restaurant with a fresh new look, read on for what’s new and coming soon around town.

Now Open

1. Corbeau Wine Bar | The Edge

Last year, Corbeau Wine Bar opened its first location in Trussville. Now, the family-owned winery has officially opened its second bar at The Edge—a new outdoor entertainment space in Homewood with all kinds of dining and retail options.

Owned by sisters Mary and Elizabeth, Corbeau is a balanced mix of sophisticated and casual, with a polished, approachable wine-tasting experience. Inside, you’ll find a full-service bar and the only retail-forward Napa Technology WineStation in Alabama.

2. Eighteen South Boutique | The Edge

The Edge has also welcomed a new boutique to its lineup. Locally-owned clothing store Eighteen South has opened its second location in Homewood.

The boutique offers a variety of men’s and women’s fashion, from sporty athleisure to going-out styles.

3. Yum Yai Street Thai | Highway 280

Earlier this year, Yum Yai closed temporarily for renovations. According to their Facebook page, locally-owned Thai restaurant reopened on October 22 with a fresh new look.

If you’ve never been to Yum Yai, it’s worth the trip down Highway 280. Located across from Greystone, Yum Yai blends the vibrant flavors of Bangkok’s street food with a modern twist, offering dishes like crab fried rice, drunken noodle and dumplings.

4. Tropical Smoothie | UAB

Tropical Smoothie has opened its latest new store. Located near Kirklin Clinic and UAB Hospital, the new café serves as a healthy option for students and hospital visitors.

5. Big Bad Breakfast | Pelham

A popular breakfast joint, is coming to The Canopy at Oak Mountain in Pelham.

Big Bad Breakfast will be located in the heart of the city’s entertainment district across from Taco Mac and Cahaba Cycles and near the Pelham Civic Center Complex, the home of the Birmingham Bulls.

6. Dave’s Hot Chicken | Vestavia Hills

Dave’s Hot Chicken, one of the fastest-growing restaurant chains in America with a cult-like following, is opening in Vestavia Hills on November 8.

Known for its take on Nashville-style Hot Chicken, Dave’s has a short and sweet menu of chicken dishes, with heat levels ranging from “No Spice” to the eyewatering “Reaper.”

Located at the Vestavia City Center, it will be the popular hot-chicken joint’s first location in Alabama.
