The Magic City Classic is way more than a football game. It’s like a homecoming, family reunion, tailgate / block party and annual pilgrimage rolled into one.

The events have already started, and you’ll find Regions sponsoring events throughout the week alongside other partners like Protective, Alabama Power, the City of Birmingham and more.

Regions hosts a Thursday evening reception for both schools with both Presidents attending, as a way to say “thank you for coming to Birmingham” and a Friday luncheon that brings together student athletes, coaches, cheerleaders and alumni.

All together, more than 200 volunteers from Regions will be playing behind-the-scenes roles at the Classic to ensure that everyone has a good time.

There’s nothing like the Magic City Classic for connecting with community. (Regions)

Floresha Watkins, VP Community Relations Manager, spoke about why the company decided to get involved in this way, highlighting their relationship with both schools:

“At Regions, we believe that everyone should have an opportunity to succeed. Higher ed is an important tool to help individuals and their family achieve success through education. That’s why education and workforce readiness are key pillars to our community engagement strategy.

We partner with both schools for the Magic City Classic to help deliver this commitment and foster inclusive prosperity throughout the communities we serve.

We are proud to have long-lasting relationships with both universities—Alabama A&M and Alabama State. Volunteering and being a part of all the other wonderful events that are taking place this week, makes a meaningful difference in both schools. We are proud to support this year’s Magic City Classic.”
