Ballard Designs, one of the leading furniture design and home decor retailers in the U.S., opened its first Alabama location this week along Rotary Trail.

The new shop and design center is located at the newly redeveloped Historic Hardwick Building, a former century-old steel processing plant at 2308 1st Ave S Suite 106, Birmingham, AL 35233

Birmingham is a good fit for Ballard Designs

“We’re very excited to be in Alabama, in a historical place. Birmingham is such a good fit for us.”

Natalie Subyak, Regional Manager, Ballard Designs

According to Subyak, what makes Ballard Designs truly special is the way it helps customers create their vision of the home.

They have:

  • More than 300 fabrics
  • Designers who offer free design services
  • Endless options to customize furniture/designs and make your own
  • Beautifully decorated room vignettes filled with the brand’s exclusive living room and dining room furniture, lighting, rugs, bedding and home décor.

For the creative designers at Ballard Designs, the new space at the Hardwick is a dream come true. The natural light beams throughout the showroom, providing a colorful kaleidoscope feel and experience.

Ballard Designs is a destination

Along with the opening of Ballard Designs, the Hardwick Building is opening two new restaurants.

They are:

  • Epice — an authentic Lebanese bistro based out of Nashville, TN, will be opening at The Hardwick this winter.
  • Lapeer Steak and Seafood —a Maven Group concept from Alpharetta, GA, is anticipated to open in 2025.

And of course, Rotary Trail and the nearby Railroad Park are a draw.

“With so many places to walk, eat and shop nearby, we hope our newest store and the Hardwick Building becomes a community hub where locals and visitors to Birmingham come to shop, dream a little and just have fun.”

Karen Mooney, President, Ballard Designs
