The LJCC got its start in Birmingham back in 1906 with the formation of the Young Men’s Hebrew Association.
What began as a sanctuary for Jewish immigrants who faced exclusion elsewhere has evolved into a welcoming community for everyone who enters its doors.

4. LJCC has year-round indoor + seasonal outdoor pools
If you enjoy swimming, you’ll love this. The LJCC’s heated indoor and seasonal outdoor pools are home to one of Birmingham’s best aquatics programs.
You’ll find everything from lessons for all ages to lap swimming, swim and dive clubs and a variety of recreational activities.
5. You can get scholarships + free memberships at The J
The LJCC has always embraced a ‘the more, the merrier’ mindset. In light of this, they offer need-based scholarships for both memberships and programs.
They J is also one of the only local gyms that gives back to our community’s heroes by offering free memberships to first responders.
