Vulcan’s Day of Play is part of something even bigger—Nickelodeon’s Our World: Worldwide Day of Play. It’s a global initiative designed to inspire kids and provide them with tools to activate their creativity.
“This event is about bringing the community together, getting outdoors and encouraging kids to explore, create and having a great time..
It’s a wonderful way for families to connect, be active and celebrate the importance of play in a child’s development.”

A whole day dedicated to having fun? Count me in!
Plus, as an early 90s kid, Nickelodeon was life. Aaahh Real Monsters… Hey Arnold… Rugrats… it didn’t get any better.
What can you expect throughout the day? So. Many. Things. I took my daughter last year during the very first Vulcan’s Day of Play. Not only did it give us a reason to spend the day together, but it got us both out of the house and away from technology.
Here are a few things to check out during the event:
- Interactive art activities
- Glitter Tattoos
- Lawn games
- Museum Tours
- Photo ops with Mascot V
There will be some snacks and drinks available for purchase, too, from:
- Felde Coffee
- Jolly Cakes
Concierge Speech Birmingham LLC will also be at the event offering free speech and language screenings for kids.
More to do at Vulcan Park and Museum
Vulcan Park and Museum is one of Birmingham’s gems with sweeping views of the city and one of the most remarkable statues ever—Vulcan.
We may be biased, but we’re sure you agree.
BONUS: The Observation Tower will be open during the event. Take an elevator ride up (or take the stairs if you’re brave) for the ultimate reward—stunning views you’ll never forget.
