Of the 13 new building permits issued statewide this past week for construction projects exceeding $1 million, six are for projects taking place within the Birmingham metro area.

One of these projects is a full service auto repair and body shop in the Meadowbrook community along the 280 corridor.

Here’s what we know about this new Caliber Collision facility:

  • The site is located between the Brook Highland Shopping Plaza and Walmart, about a quarter mile north of U.S. 280.
  • The new construction is a 16,109-square-foot pre-engineered metal building with 10 customer parking spaces and 65 vehicle storage spaces.
  • The facility will sit on roughly 2 acres.
  • The Stewart Perry Co. is listed as the lead contractor.
  • The project is expected to cost approximately $2 million.
