Birmingham team wins $10K at National Pool Championship in Las Vegas

The next time you’re playing pool at the Brown Derby or The Nick, make sure your opponent isn’t one of the guys above.

Last month, Robert Hall, Lance Ireland, David Rowell and Wai Pang—four professional pool players from Birmingham—won the 2024 APA Masters Championship in Las Vegas!

Four Birminghamians win 2024 APA Masters Championship

Hosted by the American Poolplayers Association (APA) in Las Vegas, the 2024 APA Masters Championship was held Aug. 12 – 15. The event featured nearly 16,000 players in 384 qualifying teams competing for a total of more than $1.3 million in prize money.

One of those teams, dubbed “Alabama’s Finest,” is made up of four Birminghamians:

  • Robert Hall
  • Lance Ireland
  • David Rowell
  • Wai Pang

“Alabama’s Finest” ultimately took home $10,000—and bragging rights—after winning the Masters Championship.

Robert, Lance, David and Wai are all part of the Birmingham branch of the American Poolplayers Association (APA) Pool League.
