Parking deck at Samford among new high-dollar building permits

Of the ten new building permits issued this past week across the state for construction projects exceeding $1 million, seven are for projects in the Birmingham metro.

Among those projects is a $17 million permit for a parking deck at Samford University.

New parking deck at Samford

One of the building permits issued this past week is for a 550-space parking deck at Samford University, part of the school’s Horizons Project, a $70 million campus improvement plan.

The plan addresses infrastructure needs for the entire campus, increases energy efficiency, practices campus-wide conservation, and refreshes and renews every facility—all steps in the process of creating a sustainable future for generations of Samford students.

The permit for the parking deck is for $17.5 million, and Robins & Morton is listed as the lead contractor.
