New Hoover fire station among high-dollar building permits this week

Of the 13 new building permits issued this past week across the state for million-dollar-plus construction projects, seven of them are for projects in the Birmingham metro.

Among those Birmingham-area permits is for the new Hoover Fire Station No. 1. Here’s more:

New Hoover Fire Station No. 1

A new fire station is being built in Hoover, as ground was broken this summer on Hoover Fire Station No. 1. The new $5 million station will replace the city’s original fire station — built by volunteers back in the 1960s when Hoover Fire was a volunteer department.

Here’s more info:

  • The new station is located at 1596 Montgomery Highway
  • The 8,800-square-foot station will feature larger bays
  • A rig will be able to pull through one of the bays so apparatus drivers don’t have to back up on the highway
  • Kyser Construction is the lead contractor on this project

The new station is expected to open August 2025.
