Owning a home on Lake Martin sounds like a dream—spending the day on the boat, watching dazzling sunsets and an escaping from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Recently, we caught up with some local real estate agents to talk about what’s trending in the Lake Martin area. Plus, check out two stunning lake homes that are on the market now.
Meet 3 local real estate experts
- Katie Crommelin—A Gardendale native now residing in Birmingham, Katie has nearly 20 years of real estate experience and a passion for the Birmingham community.
- Jane Huston Crommelin—With over 20 years in real estate and more than 25 years in sales and marketing, it’s safe to say Jane Huston knows her business.
- Blair Moss—A driven saleswoman with over 17 years of real estate experience, Blair has been a top producer since joining the Ray & Poynor team in 2014. Plus, being a native of Sylacauga lends her some extra knowledge of the Lake Martin area market.
What’s trending on Lake Martin
Alabamians aren’t the only ones with their eyes on Lake Martin this summer.
Due to a significant amount of new developments and retail in the area, there is a large presence of out-of-state buyers looking for a home on the big and beautiful lake, says Blair Moss.
Katie Crommelin told us that this could result in a change in buyers’ home needs.
“With the addition of new retail around the lake, I think buyers see Lake Martin less as only a spring and summer destination and more as a year-round retreat. With this comes a different thought process about what a home requires to meet their needs.
They’re considering space to host Thanksgiving and Christmas as well as long weekends off from school. It’s exciting to see the activity around the lake continue throughout the year and not just in the warm months.”

Let’s take a tour of two prominent Lake Martin properties that are currently on the market and hear from the experts at Ray & Poynor.

1. 1692 Oat Road
Could this Lake Martin house be any cozier? (Ray & Poynor)
Located through the Narrows in Coosa County, this custom-built home is ideal for buyers with a meticulous eye for detail.
Throughout the home, you’ll find floor-to-ceiling white pine walls and antique heart pine floors, giving it an elevated cabin feel.
“Oat Road is a special property. If you are looking for character, a private lot with a view, calm water, close proximity to Birmingham and Coosa County taxes, this one checks all of the boxes.
There is so much charm in the home featuring heart pine floors, ceilings and walls throughout.”

2. 1186 Willow Glynn Way

When I see this home, I immediately picture guests congregating around the kitchen island enjoying a post-swim snack.
Located in Tallapoosa County, this Lake Martin gem offers the perfect balance of spaciousness and homey charm.
“The gorgeous stone work, open concept kitchen and screened-in porch overlooking the lake make this a winner in my eyes.
As much as I love sunny weekends on the water, there is something so cozy about curling up on a rainy day in a space that’s still large enough to entertain indoors.”

Invest in your future happiness at Lake Martin
Everyone wants a home to escape to on the weekends, but lake ownership is more than just a summer getaway—it’s an investment in the future.
“Most buyers enter into lake properties as their vacation home, but don’t consider all of the long-term benefits or retirement potential in owning on the lake.
More than just an opportunity to entertain family and friends during summer months, buyers are setting themselves up for success with a long-term, move-in ready investment for retirement years.”
