Meet Dr. Tim McGraw. (Cahaba Dermatology)

Read on for a look at why he went into dermatology, plus expert skincare tips you’ll want to know for the summer ahead.

When I asked Dr. McGraw why he’s so passionate about dermatology, he opened up about his personal connection to the field.

“After many years in my first specialty of Family Medicine, I decided to become a Dermatologist as my father started to develop chronic skin problems including skin cancer.

I saw firsthand how my father’s Dermatologist made such a positive impact on his well-being. I wanted to help others with their skin conditions and make the same impact.”

Summer skin care tips from Dr. McGraw

When Dr. McGraw isn’t treating patients, you can find him outside (with lots of sunscreen and a wide-brimmed hat, of course!) hiking, fishing and gardening with his family.

As we enter the summer season, Dr. McGraw provided these tips to help keep your skin safe from harmful ultraviolet rays:

  • Sunscreen should be used on all exposed areas—even on cloudy days.
  • Sunscreen should be reapplied every 2 hours—it won’t last an entire day.
  • Good sun protection is the best way to prevent early signs of skin aging such as wrinkles + uneven pigmentation.

When I saw Dr. McGraw at Cahaba Dermatology in Hoover, he checked me for any unusual or problematic skin spots and provided me with a helpful pamphlet filled with important information.

“Cahaba Dermatology’s philosophy of providing top-notch medical care while also providing excellent customer service perfectly aligns with my philosophy.

I am sincerely privileged and honored to provide medical care to my patients. I believe that trust is not simply earned just because I went to medical school—trust has to be cultivated and nourished with every interaction.”
