Ready for the biggest party of the year celebrating the biggest guy in Birmingham? You’re invited to Vulcan’s 120th Birthday Bash at Vulcan Park and Museum. On Sunday, June 2, kick off the summer with live music, food trucks, free stuff and much more.
Vulcan turns 120 years old
Vulcan was born way back in 1904 at a whopping 56 feet tall and 50 tons, making him the largest cast iron statue in the world. Since the 1930s, Vulcan has overlooked Birmingham from atop Red Mountain and has become the city’s most iconic figure.

Admission includes all activities and access to the museum, Vulcan’s observation tower and the new Linn-Henley Gallery exhibit Vulcan at 120: Celebrating Birmingham’s Iconic Ironman.
Parking on-site will be limited. Free shuttles will be available from the Jefferson County Board of Education parking lot across Valley Avenue.

Entertainment + family fun
Vulcan’s 120th Birthday Bash will be a fun-filled event with all kinds of entertainment, including:
- Music by The Fungis Band
- Dance performances by Magic City Disco
- Special guest appearances from Magic City Mermaid, Vesta + Vulcan himself
- Sloss Furnaces’ metal artists iron pouring demonstration
- Face painting
- Moonwalk
Goodies, food trucks + more
This huge event will have over 20 local artists, more than 15 food vendors and plenty of free goodies.
There will be special Vulcan swag bags for the first 120 guests, as well as free mini cupcakes from Piggly Wiggly and raffle tickets for prizes from Red Cat Coffee, Davenport’s Pizza and other local businesses.
