Last week, five Birmingham-area chefs fed thousands of fans who enjoyed the gorgeous weather, golf, parties and celebrity sightings at the 2024 Regions Tradition.

Three of us from Bham Now went to Greystone to sample these locally-owned food trucks’ offerings. Keep reading to find out who was there, what we tried and how you can enjoy these tasty trucks yourself.

1. Lemon Pepper Pork Skins—Krazy Good Barbecue

The first stop on our five food-truck tour was Krazy Good Barbecue. It was easy to tell that this father-son team loves what they do.

  • Owner: Howard Hudson
  • How long in business: Since 2018
  • Home base: Bessemer, food truck only
  • Where to find them: Jefferson + Shelby Counties
  • Bestseller: Brisket + pork skins
  • Fun fact: The owner himself isn’t a fan of sauce—he wants to savor the flavor of the meat itself, but he’ll happily serve your barbecue with white or red sauce, depending on your preference.

After we chatted with the owner and his son, they brought us a bag of the most delicious lemon pepper pork skins. They were so good that two of us bought another whole-gallon bag to take home.

BONUS: Krazy Good Barbecue also does catering.

After pizza, it was time to check out another new-to-us food truck: Nettie B’s Grill, based out of Alabaster.

The secret ingredient is love at this family-owned business, created to honor the late Nettie B. Fortson.

  • Owner: Chef Terrilyn Fortson
  • How long in business: Since 2021
  • Home base: Alabaster, food truck only
  • Where you’ll find them: All over!
  • Bestseller: Philly cheesesteak + large cheeseburger

I heard about Wasabi Juan’s for years but never checked it out. Now that I have, I can’t wait to go back.

  • Owners: Luis + Barby Toro

The first time I tried hot chicken, I immediately texted my foodie brother to say “why have you not told me about hot chicken?!”

In the hot chicken world, Eugene’s is just so good.
