6 new + coming soon openings in the Birmingham area

It’s the start of another beautiful week in The Magic City and as always, there are plenty of new projects in town from a campground renovation to a new seafood restaurant.

Here’s a roundup of a couple new businesses in town, and three more to keep your eye out for this summer.

New Openings

1. Simone’s Kitchen & Cocktails | Center Point

A fan-favorite Birmingham food truck has opened a brick-and-mortar restaurant in Center Point. Owned and operated by Chef Whitney Simone, Simone’s Kitchen ATL has been serving the community for seven years. 

Simone’s Kitchen & Cocktails, a restaurant, lounge and event space serving classic Southern cuisine with a modern twist, is now open.

2. Krystal | Calera

A new Krystal location is now open in Calera. Connected to a Valero convenience store off exit 234 on I-65, it is the 2nd Krystal location to move into the Birmingham Metro area over the past 18 months.

3. Magnolia Point | Southside

Magnolia Point is the latest restaurant project from Pihakis Restaurant Group, the hospitality company behind some of Birmingham’s most beloved restaurants: Little Donkey, Tasty Town, Rodney Scott’s BBQ and Hero Doughnuts.

The restaurant will feature an array of seafood dishes, sandwiches and much more. There will also be a courtyard and ample parking for guests.

4. Renovated campgrounds | Oak Mountain State Park

Just in time for Memorial Day weekend, the campground at Oak Mountain State Park is reopening after $13 million in renovations. New features include an updated dog park, new playground and upgraded electrical connections.

The campground is scheduled to officially open this Friday, May 24.

5. 7 Brew | Trussville

A drive-thru coffee stand will be opening in Trussville this June. 7 Brew offers a wide variety of espresso drinks, energy drinks, smoothies, shakes and more. Customize your drink with one of its 30+ flavors like guava, brown sugar or lavender.

6. The Hair Bar | Dolly Ridge

The Hair Bar is making a move from Highway 280 to a new home in Cahaba Heights. Due to a growing client base and team of stylists, the salon upsized to a location three times its original size.

The new location is now open on Dolly Ridge near Biscuit Love.
