Oak Mountain State Park campground reopening after $13M renovation

Just in time for Memorial Day weekend, the campground at Oak Mountain State Park is reopening after $13 million in renovations.

Oak Mountain State Park list of upgrades

Closed since August 2023, the campground, which is one of the park’s top attractions, has undergone several changes and upgrades.

Here is the list:

  • New water and sewer lines
  • Upgraded electrical connections to 50/30 amp power
  • New and expanded playground
  • Many of camping pads have been modernized to accommodate the latest RV makes and models
  • Updated dog park 
  • New trails leading to campground
  • New camp store

Opening Memorial Day weekend

The campground is scheduled to open on Memorial Day weekend. A ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday, May 18th.

The $13 million campground renovation at Oak Mountain was made possible by the $85 million bond issue for parks passed by Alabama voters in 2022.
