Creating a love for music
Behind the May 31 festival is Mason Music—a local music school teaching guitar, piano, drums, voice and more in private lessons to students of all ages.
They also offer music camps, group lessons and an awesome Rock Band League for young musicians destined for the limelight.
Owner Will Mason opened Mason Music’s first location back in 2012 in Cahaba Heights. The business was such a success it expanded to four more locations across the Greater Birmingham Area in Bluff Park, Greystone, Mountain Brook Village and Woodlawn.
What to expect at Mason Music Fest
This will be Mason Music Fest’s 3rd consecutive year at Avondale Brewing Company—one of Birmingham’s top spots to cheer on musicians and bands.
The one-evening-only music festival celebrates local and regional musicians and will feature a hot lineup that includes:
- Mountain Grass Unit—Birmingham native jamgrass band + former students of Mason Music’s Rock Band League
- Kashus Culpepper—Alexander City native, singer + songwriter
- Taylor Wilson—Birmingham solo pop + alternative artist + former Mason Music guitar instructor
“Mountain Grass Unit is a group to keep an eye on, for sure. Drury, Luke and Sam all came through Mason Music’s Rock Band League program years ago and we knew at the time these were some special kids.
Their musicianship was way ahead of the curve for their age. They’ve been blowing up recently and we are so happy for their success.”

Mason Music Fest will have some popular food trucks onsite, too, like Miracle Pizza Company and Good Time Food Company.
Plus, you can count on great beer from Avondale Brewing Company.
Bonus: Two of Mason Music’s epic Rock Band League winners will be opening the show—Close Proximity and Static.
More than a music event
Mason Music Fest is more than a concert—it’s an awesome fundraiser.
All proceeds from the event benefit the Mason Music Foundation, which provides music lesson scholarships, instruments, camps, and opportunities to perform to eligible families in under-resourced Birmingham neighborhoods.
