According to the Environmental Protection Agency, certain leftover household products are dangerously toxic, corrosive and flammable when they interact with other common household items. These products contain ingredients that require special care when you dispose of them.

On Saturday, April 13, Jefferson County residents have the chance to safely and responsibly dispose of household hazardous waste from 8AM to 11:30AM or until capacity is met. There will be three concurrent collection sites in Bessemer, Gardendale and Irondale.

In addition to safely disposing of toxic household waste, participants have the chance to:

  • Clean out your kitchen and bathroom cupboards and closets
  • Reclaim your cluttered shelved and garage floor space
  • Protect your environment and residential landfill
  • Drop off items from the convenience of your vehicle
