Read on to learn what makes this camp so special and how you can help make an impact by becoming a paid staff member.
Camp APAC offers a unique opportunity for children who have been adopted
Camp APAC (Alabama Pre/Post Adoption Connections) is a collaborative program of Children’s Aid Society of Alabama and Alabama DHR designed specifically for adopted children and their siblings ages 9 to 18.
Each summer, campers attend Camp Lee in Anniston, Alabama for a fun-filled week of activities.
But what’s most special about this camp is that all campers are provided a positive and supportive environment where they can meet other kids who have been through foster care and adoption.

Meet a former camper of Camp APAC
Andrea Montgomery and her brother were placed in foster care when she was just a month old.
At age 12, a counselor from Children’s Aid Society of Alabama encouraged Andrea to attend Camp APAC, and she couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity.
“Before attending camp, I felt no one could understand what I was going through. Camp APAC helped lift my spirits.
During my first time at camp, I met a girl who had gone through some of the same things as me. It was one of the first times I understood others were facing some of the same challenges as me.”
Andrea Montgomery, staff member, Camp APAC
Andrea continued to attend Camp APAC each summer until the age of 18.
Not wanting her time at camp to end, she became a staff member and has returned to Camp APAC every summer for the last 10 years.
“It’s so rewarding. I know how important it is to have someone to look up to.
It’s important for kids to know there are others out there who may be experiencing the same thing they are.”
Andrea Montgomery, staff member, Camp APAC
Being a role model is one of the many reasons Andrea continues to return to Camp APAC every summer; she also made sure to tell us Camp APAC is “super fun.”
