Setting the winter wonderland scene

Red Mountain Theatre is no stranger to seasonal productions. In the early 2000s, the theatre began performing a holiday revue which has since evolved into an anticipated event for friends and families.

The show features a blend of the best professional talent from the Birmingham area and the Red Mountain Theatre Performing Ensembles, spanning from ages 8 to 18. 

A sneak peek into the Holiday Spectacular 2023

This November and December, buckle up for a show that’s full of all the holly jolly traditions.

Traditionalists can look forward to intricate choral numbers like The Christmas Waltz and the star-studded finale set in the manger. Fans of newer music will delight in holiday and winter-themed songs from artists like Fleet Foxes and Sharon Jones. Plus, anyone who has been thrilled by the Rockettes will want to see the huge dance numbers like A Marshmallow World waiting for them.

It wouldn’t be Holiday Spectacular without the animal guest stars, including camels, sheep and goats.

Funny fact: It’s been confirmed that more than one driver commuting home on 3rd Avenue South has been startled by the sight of Mordecai the Camel taking his walk around the block before the show.

“This is my seventh year being involved in the show. I really enjoy seeing the kids in the audience. I see a lot of families and know they have a tradition of coming every year. It energizes me to see the joy in their eyes when they light up seeing an animal or the big finale or even the opening number.”
